Job Description

KDC is growing! Our expansion in the Aerospace, Space, and Defence sectors has created an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Team Lead to oversee our customer-deployed engineering teams. This is a leadership role that requires both technical expertise and strong management skills to ensure the successful delivery of design-based work packages.
 
Key Responsibilities:
✅ Lead and manage a team of ~10 Mechanical Design Engineers, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality.
✅ Oversee the production of design data for modifications to aircraft, equipment, and components.
✅ Ensure all design documentation meets internal, customer, and regulatory standards.
✅ Act as the primary technical contact for customers, attending programme meetings (TRMs, PDRs, CDRs, etc.).
✅ Support checking and verification of design data before customer delivery.
✅ Assign tasks, manage team performance, and provide technical guidance.
✅ Collaborate with Operations and Project Management to track project risks and dependencies.
✅ Work with the Engineering Director to ensure resource availability and capability.
✅ Compile Statements of Work (SoWs) based on customer requests.
✅ Report on project progress, risks, and dependencies to the Operations and Engineering leadership teams.
 
What We’re Looking For:
�� Proven leadership & technical management experience in Aerospace, Space, or Defence programmes.
�� Strong understanding of OEM methodologies and experience using CATIA V6 / 3DX.
�� Degree (or equivalent experience) in Mechanical / Aeronautical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
�� Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
�� Strong interpersonal and communication skills—able to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
�� Experience working directly with customer technical leadership teams.
�� Ability to estimate work, manage resources, and oversee project risks & dependencies.
�� Experience working in fast-paced environments with tight deadlines and high technical standards.
�� A quick learner with strong commercial awareness and discretion.
